The Spiritual Climate on Campus
When a young man or woman enters a university in America he or she is making contact with a rather diverse environment. Even with commonalities among traditional students such as relative age, the use of English as the primary language and a shared educational goal, a wide variety of factors such as ethnicity, religious background, socio-economic status, political persuasion and family upbringing make the college experience a fascinating one. In fact, some thinkers suggest we no longer can call the academy a cohesive "uni-versity", but rather a pluralistic "multi-versity" instead.
The college environment affords young people exposure to a wealth of ideas they must sort through, embracing some and rejecting others. While what happens in the classroom building is vital to one's intellectual development, students also receive an education in life outside of class time. Social venues are readily available in formal and informal settings that help a young person to reach maturity. Furthermore, physical needs are met through varsity sports and intramural programs. Perhaps the most neglected area of student life is the spiritual dimension.
That is why Campus Crusade for Christ maintains a presence on hundreds of our country's college and university campuses. We aim to be a spiritual resource to students, providing information, training, relationships, opportunities and environments that are conducive to one's spiritual growth.
One's college days are often a time of renewed interest in spiritual matters. Young people must think through the faith of their parents and determine where they stand themselves. They are exposed to many new ideas and people of other faiths, many of whom do not adhere to the teachings of Christianity. Since 1951, Campus Crusade for Christ has been pleased to present a Christian voice in the marketplace of ideas.
Campus Crusade is an interdenominational Christian student organization. We have no ties to any one particular denomination but work instead in cooperation with many local churches to aid the spiritual development of young men and women.
Traditional, orthodox Christian beliefs are at the core of the Campus Crusade for Christ movement. We hold to the essential claims of the Christian heritage including the birth, life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. See our Statement of Faith.
Opportunities we offer on campus include small group Bible studies, a campus-wide weekly meeting, conferences, missions projects and more.
Your son or daughter's involvement in Campus Crusade for Christ is something we are proud of and cherish. We trust that their association with our ministry will prepare them for a lifetime of spiritual growth and personal development.
